In the 2005 Election Thoughts article, I stated that Michael Hart and Steve Sciascia had never voted before. I had based that on a statement made by Mark Martin in an Independent Tribune article.
This is, in fact, not the case. When I was writing the article, I couldn’t get to the State Board Of Elections site (it’s had bad performance over the past few weekends). If you check the State Board of Elections, you’ll find that both of them had participated in the 2004 General Elections.

Just like I’d put trust in the Tribune’s fact-checking, I put a little too much trust in another well-meaning, yet less-than-robust source: the de Tocqueville quote was in of my History textbooks from my brief stint in Christian school.
