February 11, 2006: Do you Trust Your Elected Officials? 

I believe our major problem today in our local government is a lack of trust in the leadership of our local elected officials. How do you answer the question, “Do you trust your elected officials?” The first question you ask is do they “Care about you?” or “are they just interested in power and influence?” Next question is are they trustworthy? This question has two parts. “Do they know what they are talking about?” (Are they competant?) The second part of the question is, “Do they have high ethical standard?”

Personally, my first test of competency is if someone would, say, look up the spelling of the word competent before they publish to the world.
