Spirited Discussion About Life in Cabarrus County, North Carolina

Townhall Cabarrus Killed the Video Star

First, I’m just posting the text. I don’t have time to comment this morning. Second, there was a summary table which I’ll get up in a little bit. You’ll notice that the “discouraged speech section” has been removed. However, those of you who relished having your invectives broadcasted over local cable will be disappointed. If people want to see the stylings of Jerry Williamson, they’ll have to do it in person.

Townhall Cabarrus

1. In the interest of hearing from our citizens, The following changes are proposed to our regular monthly BOC meeting:

a. The meeting will begin at 6:00 PM, with Informal Public Comments. Speakers will sign up as always, using the yellow cards provided. As with the current policy, each speaker will be allotted 3 minutes in which to speak.

b. Any speakers not being able to speak prior to 7:15 will be given the option of speaking at the close of the regular business portion of the meeting, or by speaking at the BOC Agenda Work Session.

c. At 7:30, the regular, video-taped portion of the BOC will begin. If public hearings are held as part of this meeting, then speakers will be recognized from the floor.

d. At the conclusion of the regular business session, the public will be allowed to speak, if they filled out a yellow card and were unable to speak due to time constraints.

2. With our agenda work session, which generally occurs on the first Monday of each month, the chair will open the floor for comments from the public at the conclusion of the meeting. The comment period will be held at the conclusion of the meeting due to the early start time of the meeting.

3. Public hearings will continue to be held as they are now.
