I wrote a letter to the editor endorsing Liz Poole and I’d like to share it with y’all. Often, we forget about the School Board candidates at the bottom of the ballot. However, they make important decisions regarding the spending of our taxes and the education of our children.
Here’s the letter about Liz:
Without a President or a state-wide race on the ballot, many voters may be tempted to sit the upcoming election out; but citizens who care about education in Cabarrus County should make a special trip to their polling places to cast a vote for Liz Poole.
I’ve had the opportunity to serve with her on the Parks and Recreation Commission when she was the Cabarrus County School representative and I can say that there isn’t anyone on the ballot who has worked harder to represent working families than Liz Poole. She makes a special effort to understand the issues and listen to all sides in order to make an informed decision. This has earned her the respect of folks here and those who serve in Raleigh, making her an effective representative of families of students in Cabarrus County
When public education opponents on the Board of Commissioners dragged their feet on capital projects while students attended classes in overcrowded trailers, she lead the School Board in challenging their stall tactics and help put the 2004 bond on the ballot where it won overwhleming approval from Cabarrus County voters. This is one example of many of where Liz Poole puts in the time, does her homework, and delivers for families in Cabarrus County.
As a small business owner and a parent, Liz Poole understand the challenges that working families in Cabarrus County face. She isn’t killing time or using a position to service her ego - she’s making a difference. Liz Poole is the rare exception among elected officials who know what it’s like to work for a living and serve effectively as a public official.
Liz Poole has earned your vote. It’s up to you to cast it on November 7th.
