The results in Cabarrus County weren’t too shocking. The Commissioners race followed the 2002 pattern - the Moderates lead while the Cabarrus Taxpayers’ Association candidates came in behind them. The CTA candidates get enough votes to win; but not enough to declare a mandate…even though they will.
I got to meet a lot of new folks at the polls and I got to meet a number of Cheap Seats readers - which is always great. It was well worth taking half of a vacation day from work and sticking around late.
For me, what was particularly funny was an encounter that I had with a voter while working the polls
I was handing out literature for the Republican Party in my home precinct and for the most part - people were friendly. However, there were a few that were standoffish; and one particularly so. Here’s how it went:
Me: Good Morning, here’s a list of…
Self-Assured Voter: I don’t need that - I’m not a last minute decider - I’ve made up my mind.
Self-Assured Voter then proceeded to walk into the wrong building. I guess he made up his mind about where he was voting and wouldn’t be swayed by any propaganda - including that from the Cabarrus County Board of Elections.
