Harris Road Middle’s Odyssey of the Mind team has made it to the World Finals to be held in East Lansing, MI on May 23-26.  The trip wasn’t in the school’s budget - they’ll need to raise about $8,000 in a month.  That’s why they need your help.

Robin and I are making a donation; because having Cabarrus County represented in something like this is important to our community.  Odyssey of The Mind is a creative, problem-solving competition.  Teams are given different challenges and they have to work out a response.  Sometimes the response is in the form of a structure they have to build…sometimes it’s a creative verbal answer.  This competition runs the gambit and is probably more pertinent to the real world than just about any other competition that schools are involved in today.

As someone who works in a research, I can tell you that the world needs more smart, creative problem solvers.  I can scarcely think of anything more important to the future of our community than be known as a place that produces smart, creative problem solvers.
