Is The Cabarrus Taxpayers’ Association History?

We should be so lucky.

I almost missed this article in last week’s Observer until a Cheap Seats fan pointed it out to me. Here’s a taste:

He (Privette) formed the Cabarrus Taxpayers Association with Arne Fennel, an executive with Drye’s company, in 1997. Candidates credited the group’s campaign flyers with swaying local races.

Fennel and Privette were elected commissioners in 1998 on a platform of cutting spending but still building schools. An association mailing billed them as “The Taxpayers’ Dream Team.”

The dream team stepped on some toes.

The “Cindy Fertenwhich?” flyer, for example, also said: “Cindy Fertenbaugh opposes funding Kannapolis schools.”

Of course, let’s not forget some others:

But given the list that precedes me - I’m in pretty good company. Seeing that they have gone to taking pot shots at some dude with a website - things must be getting pretty desperate over there at the CTA
