Given the newest brouhaha over the speedway and the on-going silliness from Coy Privette, it’s easy to miss a first in Cabarrus County. The first on-line candidate video. Here it is, from Mike Tallent of Midland:

GET OUT AND VOTE!!!
NOVEMBER 6, 2007
Yes, it’s almost that time again. But, we’re not voting for the President; we’re not voting for Congress, Senate or Governor; we’re not even voting for County officials. So why make the effort to come out and vote?? Blah, blah, blah. Vote for what? And who? Well, let me tell you something: The voters of Midland will have a great opportunity set before them on November 6. On that date, the voters of Midland will be able to make a difference in our town government. There are two seats coming up to be filled on the Midland Town Council and Mike Tallent is running for one of those seats. Mike Tallent? Mike Tallent? Where have you heard that name before? Mike ran for a seat on the Midland Town Council two years ago, but was not elected. Mike was not discouraged. You know how the old saying goes: You can’t keep a good man down. (Mike is that man.) He has been working for the past two years by attending County Commissioner meetings and serving on the Planning & Zoning Commission for the past 1 1/2 years. He has also helped with the Save Bethel School committee and he has also served on the Long-Term Strategic Planning Committee for the Town of Midland. He recently has been appointed to the Utility Commission for the town. And, if that weren’t enough, he has also been elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Cabarrus County Republican Men’s Club. He has attended workshops to help him better serve on the town committees, the most recent of which was a Growth Summit. Mike is also out and about in the community, too; he helps with the Boy Scouts and he serves in various capacities at First Baptist Church of Midland.
I think you’ll agree that there’s no better choice than Mike to fill one of the two seats up for grabs on the Midland Town Council. No one will work harder for the Town of Midland than Mike. To see more information about Mike Tallent, please visit: miketallent.com
And, don’t forget to mark your calendar to come and vote for Mike Tallent on Tuesday November 6, 2007.
Respectfully submitted by Mike’s humble campaign manager, Beth Tallent.
