Lowe’s Motor Speedway owner Bruton Smith now says there is a “90 percent chance” he will move his track out of Concord for another site around Charlotte.And if he leaves Concord, Smith said, he will raze the track and sell the property piecemeal.

It seems overly simplistic to be angry with what is going to go down as stupidest move by a city government in the state this year.
Who is it appropriate to be upset with: the local parties for not running more effective campaigns and recruiting better candidates, the borderline corrupt system that guarantees the Council members their seats as long as they want them, or the people (myself included) for not noticing the City Council’s complete disregard for owner’s property rights as a pattern and not standing up to it?

It’s absolutely incredible that the town council would discriminate against drag racing. To put into the zoning regulations for a motorsports facility to say “except for a drag strip is amazing. Actually drag racing does a service to the community to give their kids a place to race and it gives NHRA a great place to run their national events. I support Bruton Smith 100% to move his facility to another location!! You simply can’t trust people like the Concord council.
