It was another long night, and there’s an article that I haven’t done all of the research on. In the meantime, I thought I’d share this video with y’all; but it’ll take a little explaining.
I did some work on the Nuclear side before my most recent promotion. During that time, when I was on sites, I had to learn about each plant’s Radioactive Contamination practices. Most of the time, the training was pretty droll. Basically, radiation dosage is measured in millirem and the goal is to get as little dosage as possible. Commercial nuclear plants actually do a better job at controlling radiation dosage than other facilities - like hospitals.
However, this video is much more entertaining than what I endured. And to answer the question you’re all wondering about - yes, I did wear one of those suits as part of the training.
Enjoy.
And in case that wasn’t nerdy enough for you - “Grandpa Schmoe” explains to his granddaughter what happened at Three Mile Island after the jump.

That’s the best explanation of the Three Mile Island incident that I’ve ever seen.
Does it make me look stupid that the 7 year old has a better handle on nuclear reactors than I do?
Hmm, that’s a real head scratcher…

Aaron - We can make a lot of people feel old by telling them we were in diapers during the TMI incident.
