With his election in 2006, Jay White continued the move away from the paleoconservative, buy now-pay later philosophy of the majority of the Commissioners during the first half of this decade (that switch started in 2004 with the election of Joni Juba). In addition to that, his campaign was a breath of fresh air that managed to produce a strong turnout and transcend old divisions with a thoughtful and positive message.
Last night, he was elected as Chairman of the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners. His intellect and professionalism will help the County build on the successes of the former Chair, Bob Carruth.
It’s news like this that makes me feel positive about the future of the County.

Congrats to Chairman White, I guess…I hope we don’t beat up on him the way we have Bob Carruth.
