Spirited Discussion About Life in Cabarrus County, North Carolina

The Cheap Seats is Overhauled

March 19th, 2008 by Justin Thibault · No Comments

Any website is a work in progress, but this is a quantum leap.  Here are a few things that have changed.

  1. There will be two ways of posting an article: Registering a user name and submitting a draft (afterwards, you’ll be promoted to author and you can post whatever you want - whenever you want)  or e-mailing me.  Frankly, I’d encourage you to setup an account; because I can be lazy.
  2. I used to strive to get stuff up here from me daily - three times per week minimum.  Now, I’m standing out of the way.  I will keep the pace up for a little bit; but as people start putting up material - I’ll be putting up less and less.
  3. Some odds and ends aren’t finished; but here are the important design changes:
  • Clean-up of interface: Basically, if an element wasn’t really important to navigation or it wasn’t dynamic - it was removed and put elsewhere.  You can still get to every last category and blog post by going to the “Sitemap”.  The goal was to remove clutter
  • Prominence of Authors: Post something on this blog and you’ll get noticed.  This isn’t about material that I write.  Go check out the authors pages and you’ll see that anyone who wants a soapbox about local issues in Cabarrus County gets it.
  • More Feedback Opportunities: Maybe you don’t want to write an article.  Maybe you don’t feel like leaving a comment.  Well, you can submit feedback on a post with one click on the post ratings.  If you’re a regular reader, I would appreciate it if you would go to articles you liked (or disliked) and rate them.  Right now, the “Highest Rated” section is in some weird default mode; because there’s no input.

Oh, yeah, one last thing.  I gave Ric his vowels back (but not a link to his site).  It’s time.

Enjoy!
