Weekend Open Thread: Make Your Own NC GOP Obama Ad

April 25th, 2008 by Justin Thibault · 19 Comments

I’m opening up the weekend open thread a little early, because I thought of something fun.

As an open thread - you can talk about whatever you’d like to; but I challenge you…make an ad about any of the commenters, authors, candidates, officials, etc. in the style of the NC GOP Obama Ad.

Enjoy. (I’m moving some comments from the School choice thread to prime the pump)

So Caleb, allow me to take the NCGOP stance and make a commercial that says that you are against minority and lower income students getting a decent education???

    How Insensitive…. Tisk, Tisk ,Tisk….

  • 2 Caleb Seamone // Apr 25, 2008 at 12:03 pm

I can one such ad now. “Caleb once said he didn’t want to increase taxes to send Billy Smith to a school 30 miles away, when the one in Billy’s neighborhood was deemed unworthy by his parents. Caleb Seamone doesn’t care about those with lower income students, he’s just too uncaring on education”

“Caleb Seamone left a comment on the Cheap Seats in response to Aaron. Aaron is a regular contributor on Lefton49 - the blog of an Obama supporter. Obama’s pastor said ‘G.D. America’. Caleb Seamone is too extreme for North Carolina. PS - And he wants your kids to get shot in a crappy school”

“Barak Obama is a politician- As a politician he’s drafted many bills- these bills are written on paper- paper is made of trees- trees store carbon- How can Barak Obama be against global warming when he’s drafted so many bills?”"Barak Obama is too extreme for North Carolina.”

(this ad paid for by the Al Gore committee to keep Al Gore in the news…)

Justin, when you say, “Caleb Seamone is too extreme for North Carolina”, I’m having some trouble understanding that. Can you define the word “is” for me?

Some say John McCain is the best choice for the presidency but look at this: John McCain was in Vietnam-Jane Fonda opposed the war in Vietnam-Jane Fonda used the “c” word on the Today Show. Is John McCain really the man we want our children learning about in elementary school???

(Paid for by the M.R. Starnes committee to elect Coy Privette for president)

    You guys are hilarious……

Some would say President Bush has the highest disapproval rating of any president in the 70-year history of the Gallup Poll. President Bush has talked about being in Iraq for fifty years. John McCain is talking about being in Iraq for one hundred years. Vote McCain for more of the same! This message brought to you by common sense.

  • 9 Justin Thibault // Apr 28, 2008 at 8:59 am

Brad - I think that was a message brought to you by “Democrats who have no plan; but need to take the other guy out-of-context”

  • 10 Brad Spry // Apr 28, 2008 at 9:13 am

Make a mess, someone has to clean it up. Brilliant! This unprecedented mess will take more than four years to clean up. I look forward to some assistance from The Hague.

  • 11 Justin Thibault // Apr 28, 2008 at 10:04 am

Brad - Assistance from people we’ve had to bail out geopolitically. That’s brilliant!

  • 12 Brad Spry // Apr 28, 2008 at 10:57 am

You seem to have a real problem with facts Justin. Here’s one more for you to be an apologist for:

“Why are we talking about this in the White House? History will not judge this kindly.” –John Ashcroft

You advertise this thread as something fun, but it’s nothing but bait. I’m done biting for the day.

  • 13 Aaron // Apr 28, 2008 at 11:10 am

Brad Spry runs the Kannapolis 2.0 blog. Kannapolis 2.0 once ran an article about the NC Research Campus-Coy Privette is against the NCRC and it’s financing. Brad Spry and Coy Privette: Birds of a feather who are too extreme for North Carolina.

  • 14 Brad Spry // Apr 28, 2008 at 11:23 am

Aaron, you don’t know anything about me personally. Lumping me with Coy is an extremely ignorant move on your part. I sincerely hope you were just attempting to be funny. Don’t drag my blog into this, it’s just a bibliography.

  • 15 Justin Thibault // Apr 28, 2008 at 12:07 pm

Brad - You see, people get mad when you make tenuous connections. Even when it is all in fun.

As far as FACTS go…as a matter of FACT, the lowest approval rating goes to Harry Truman at the end of his presidency mainly over…anybody want to guess…Korea. (G.W. had the highest disapporval rating [people can pick Approve, Disapprove, Neutral, Don’t Care, Who’s President, etc.)

Good thing for the residents of Seoul that we didn’t run things back on approval ratings back then.

And the point, that you should draw from Aaron’s comment, is that linking Richard Moore with Rev. Wright make about as much sense as linking you with Rev. Privette.

A more effective ad: Linking Moore and Perdue with Jim Black, the Parton Theater, or the latest State Dem to get arrested.

This thread wasn’t “bait” it was a drive home a point - you were the one to bring up the war and you were the only one getting huffy.

I’m making appointments with my therapists post haste ;-)

  • 17 Aaron // Apr 28, 2008 at 2:54 pm

Perhaps a trip to the MD would be more beneficial Brad. Those bruises on the tops of your knees must hurt awfully bad.

Step 1. Get a sense of humor

Step 2. Understand that because you’re posting on a blog that’s accesible to everyone that some are gonna reference it when saying things about you (even when it’s a friggin’ joke)

Step 3. Read all comments before getting angry. You’d have seen my other 2 jabs at Obama and McCain. Or perhaps it’s Obama you’re supporting this year and that’s what started it all.

    Either way:

Step 4: SAME AS Step 1.

Maybe I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but the issues presented here are serious. As the national debt clock strikes $9,339,235,406,679, you guys tell me to get a sense of humor. I brought up the war you say? The issue is pervasive.

I have an incredible sense of humor, it’s my survival, but a joke is supposed to be funny to someone other than who’s telling it. Comparing me with Coy is not a joke. There’s nothing funny about it. I see your point, but wholeheartedly disagree with the route you took, because the Internet never forgets and neither do I.

  • 19 Aaron // Apr 28, 2008 at 6:26 pm

So where were you when the debt clock was striking 4,339,235,406,679???

Don’t fault me for your thin skin and ineptitude at the differentiation between fact, fiction and a simple 6 degrees of separation skit.

I’d tell you to grow up but you’re old enough for everyone here, even if it’s only in your own mind…

And remember, Ice for 6 hours followed by heat for 6 hours then 6 hours off, then repeat. That’s still be best treatment for bruised knees.
