Everyday, I mark certain articles to share; but never do.
Here are five of them
5. They told me if George W. Bush were re-elected that employees would be coerced into political organizations against their will - and they were right!
4. How to win the NC Governor’s GOP Primary - from the guy who came in 4th
To begin with either the McCrory strategy for entering the race so late was both brilliant and Machiavellian or it was just extraordinarily lucky. Take your pick because I don’t know if we’ll ever know for sure. But take it to the bank, the way his strategy ultimately unfolded was absolutely perfect.
3. NC Subsidies to business have doubled in a little more than 10 years ($1.2 billion [with a "b"] per year) Gee, if only we had a candidate who was willing to do something about that (see #4)
Greater transparency lies at the heart of good government. With fuller disclosure, lawmakers, courts, citizens, and the media can significantly improve their oversight of public policies and spur programs toward higher impact and cost-effectiveness. Nowhere is more “sunshine” needed than in the area of economic development, one of the fastest growing spending areas of state and local governments. Most state policymakers have little information on how much they are spending annually on a variety of on- and off-budget economic development programs.
2. Why we blog, from Rev. Mike
If you ever wonder why we blog, it’s simple–because it’s our right to. It’s also our right to know what goes on behind the curtain in government. And if somehow in the process it chafes the hide of some blowhard bureaucrat, so much the better.
Rev. Mike then tell us a story of Mecklenburg officials that are tired of “burdensome” requests for documents
1. Libertarians lose ballot access in NC…on phone polls
Me: “I’m going to vote for Munger.”
Caller: “Sir, that’s not an option.”
Me: “Ah, but it IS an option. I happen to be Mike Munger, the Libertarian candidate, and I am in fact on the ballot. Your information is incorrect.”
Caller: ” “
Me: “Ma’am? Are you there? There are three candidates for Governor in NC.”
See y’all Monday
