Hey, it’s Palmer Thibault again! Recently, someone posted a comment in an article that Mr. Aaron put up that Daddy should run for elected office. Now, most of the bad ideas ’round here come from Daddy - so I’m shocked to see that another contributor to this blog had such a lapse in judgment. That being the case, I’d like to point out to my fellow Cheap Seaters five reasons why Daddy is a less than ideal candidate
5. He’s got better things to do. There are some weeks, I think he’s just making cameo appearances. Here are all of Daddy’s jobs
- Daddy is a daddy - twice over.
- Daddy is an engineer with EPRI - and they make him go away some times
- Daddy is the President of his company’s Toastmasters Chapter - don’t know how that’s panning out, because I have to go to Mommy to get my waffles done the way I like them
- Daddy serves as a deacon at our church - The Refuge.
- Daddy is a small group leader at the church - please pray for those poor people
- Daddy spends too much time on this blog - at least that’s what mommy always says
- Daddy is on the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation Board - he should be taking me and my bro to the park instead
- Daddy serves as an Executive Board member for the Cabarrus GOP - they will let anybody in apparently
- Daddy is the Treasurer of the North Carolina Federation of Republican Men - Ditto. Really, the GOP is in some serious trouble, people.
- Daddy is the Treasurer of the Cabarrus Republican Men’s Club - OK, that job can be more exciting than it sounds sometimes
- Daddy is the editor of BlogNetNews North Carolina - Admittedly, the thing kinda runs itself
Needless to say, he’s really busy and these organizations apparently lack decent recruiting techniques - so, if he leaves one - who knows what will happen.

4. He can be really cheeky. It can be confusing at my house sometimes. Mommy says that Daddy is being “smart”. Mommy used to be a teacher - so you’d think this would be a good thing; but she says it in a way that makes me that she’s not going to give Daddy a gold star.
He can be a little goofy when it’s uncalled for. When a client asked if they could do something different with a piece of software that Daddy manages, Daddy told them that they were “asking for it”. This was on a conference call with a lot of important people.
Then there was this other time, to be cute, Daddy took Mommy’s Chick-Fil-A fries and gave her a fruit up…when she was pregnant.
What does this have to do with a campaign? Well, can you imagine Daddy at a candidate forum for, say, School Board - there’s a good chance that he’d get exasperated with a silly question and answer with, “Well, there’s only so much the system can do - the real problem is your kids”
I don’t think too many people would get that joke.
3. He’s not a good partisan. Look, here’s my little brother at the age of three…days. He’s gotten with the program.
Daddy has called himself an “O’Rourke Republican“. What’s that? He won’t just say, “I’m a Republican, I agree with you, vote for me”. No, he has to go all nerdy and quote facts and stuff when he could just say what people want to hear.
He didn’t like the NCGOP ad and he disagreed with anyone that was running for anything about the Illegal Immigrants in Community Colleges.
Daddy needs to get with the program if he’s ever going to be a standard Republican candidate.
2. Our pastor is “uncivilized“. OK, I’ve heard of this Obama guy. Do you know that I’ve been alive for more than half of his entire career in Washington? Anyhow, I heard his pastor of more than 20 years is really crazy. Our pastor is fantastic; but…well…take a look at this video.
1. There’ are better folks running.
Look at all of these fantastic candidates:
Mrs. Liz
And here are pictures of me with Mrs. Linda and Mr. Jeff
Here I am checking my mailbox for more stuff from them.
Would you want Daddy over any of these folks? Didn’t think so.
If Daddy catches me blogging then he will know I know my “ABCs” and he’ll make me say them all - and not just half.
Daddy will see y’all Monday

Hi Palmer,
You are a very smart young man. My daughters were not nearly as smart as you when they thought it was okay that I ran for School Board some years ago
We will be okay with letting Daddy be Daddy for now. But we might need to borrow him sometimes. Will that be okay?
Ms. Cindy
