REMINDER: Cabarrus GOP Men Meet Tonight

June 26th, 2008 by Mark Smith · 19 Comments

Does Nancy Pelosi share your values?

Well, if Robin Hayes isn’t reelected - you’ll be represtented by her through Larry Kissell.

David Black - the GOP 8th District Chairman and Steve Quain - Hayes Campaign Coordinator will tell you what you can do to make sure that we’re represented by someone from Concord, NC not Concord, CA.

Where? Red Pig Cafe at the Carolina Mall
When? The meeting starts at 7:30; but I would suggest getting there by 6:45 if you want dinner

Also, we’ll be winding up our membership drive with some gifts.  Membership is $20.  Visitors are welcome.

No, Nancy Pelosi doesn’t share my values, because she’s blocking impeachment proceedings, ignoring the mountain of evidence which grows larger by the day.

  • 2 Thierry Wernaers // Jun 26, 2008 at 2:24 pm

Do you think George W. Bush was an awesome president?
If so, Robin Hayes agrees with you, he voted with the president 95% of the time.
Keep the Bush policies going, vote for Hayes.
If you think it’s time for some real representation though, vote for one of us, vote Kissell.

  • 3 Justin Thibault // Jun 26, 2008 at 2:59 pm

Theirry - Actually, the 95% is McCain. Did Barry O vote against Bush all of the time?

So, you’re not disagreeing with the assertion that Kissell will agree with Nancy Pelosi all of the time?

Brad - Following the WiPE (Worse President Evar) logic - Lincoln, both Roosevelts, Kennedy, Johnson, and Clinton would have plenty to answer for.

  • 4 Thierry Wernaers // Jun 26, 2008 at 3:48 pm

Did Hayes buy some Louis Vuitton suitcases yet?

  • 5 Brad Spry // Jun 26, 2008 at 4:10 pm

No, I do not follow the worst president ever argument, which you have put forth as a distraction.

You have failed to derail my focus on the individual.

  • 6 Mark Smith // Jun 26, 2008 at 4:28 pm

    Thierry:

    Let’s go with your argument.

Does Kissell support “Drill here, drill now?” Does he believe that alternative energy is the way to go? If so, how will alternative energies that will take 5-10 years to implement lower gas prices today? Furthermore, tell me how taxing the oil companies will produce more oil.

Does he favor subsidizing alternative energies? If the energies are so great, why do they need subsidies?

How will Kissell support the farmers since agriculture is so important in NC? With Hayes being the ranking member on the agriculture committee, how will NC be impacted with Kissell representing the 8th District?

Now for your comparison with Bush: Bush wants to drill in ANWR. He wants to drill off-shores. Bush wants to increase our supply. While he seeks alternative sources, he realizes that increasing our supply can lower the price. Hayes agrees with him.

The Democratic majority does not want to increase oil supplies on the world market.

So, tell me why it is bad to have a greater supply of oil. Will someone explain to me why we can ask the folks in the Middle East, the Russians, the Venezuelans, Brazilians, and everyone else in the world to increase their production in the world but the US cannot?

While Kissell may be a great guy, I do not want a representative of the 8th District to be hog-tied if his constituents disagree with Pelosi et al. We need a person who will represent us and make us more self-sufficient.

As President of the Men’s Club, I sincerely invite you (and anyone else who desires) to attend our meeting. Over a Coke, we can discuss these ideas.

Theirry - Why is he going to visit our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan again?

Brad - It’s fair game to question someone’s judgement; but not their motives. I’m not trying to “distract”. Explain to me how Bush is impeachable; but other war presidents weren’t.

  • 8 Brad Spry // Jun 27, 2008 at 12:16 am

Justin - Bin Laden wasn’t in Iraq.

  • 9 Justin Thibault // Jun 27, 2008 at 5:09 am

    Brad - And?

  • 10 Brad Spry // Jun 27, 2008 at 7:05 am

Justin - And… the rest is history.

  • 11 Justin Thibault // Jun 27, 2008 at 7:31 am

Brad - Did Kucinich’s little green friends inspire him to file the linked document.

  • 12 Brad Spry // Jun 27, 2008 at 7:44 am

“Cannot swords be turned to plowshares? Can we and all nations not live in peace? In our obsession with antagonisms of the moment, we often forget how much unites all the members of humanity. Perhaps we need some outside, universal threat to make us recognize this common bond. I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world. And yet, I ask you, is not an alien force already among us? What could be more alien to the universal aspirations of our peoples than war and the threat of war?”

    –Ronald Reagan

Brad - So Kucinich and his little, green men will save us?

You did quote Ronald Reagan - so, I’ll split the difference with you: If George W. Bush does not vacate the Oval Office by my birthday near the end of January of next year - I will join you in your call for his removal.

  • 14 Kenneth McClamrock // Jun 27, 2008 at 10:05 am

Thank goodness for George W. Bush. While I am not always seeing eye to eye with him, without his appointments to the Supreme Court, the 2nd Amendment would have continued to be ignored and even banned.

  • 15 Steve Smith // Jun 27, 2008 at 1:31 pm

Come on, Guys stop trying to defend George W and lets get on with the election of McCain. George W is not the reason that the 2d Admendment survives. It survives because its the Law. As far as drilling off shore, thats inevitable, no matter who the President is.

  • 16 Justin Thibault // Jun 27, 2008 at 2:52 pm

Steve - All of the important Supreme Court decisions have been 5-4 - including the Right to Bear Arms decision that Kenneth is referencing. In the past the Supreme Court has not made a clear stand and lower court rulings have been all over the map. Liberals interpret the 2nd Amendment to only allow for a “collective” right to bear arms in the form of Militias. In their mind, that is the state national guards. If hard-core liberals they had their way, they’d throw independent Militiamen into “reeducation camps” along with Talk Radio hosts.

There will be one, if not two, replacement(s) on the Court. That, in my mind, is the big deal, because if you want to watch the Constitution get “interpreted” to shreds - just let Barak Obama make the appointments.

  • 17 Brad Spry // Jun 27, 2008 at 4:27 pm

Justin - I’m confused by your use of the word “liberal” in your response to Steve.

    Liberal = Liberty.

With liberty in mind, there are no absolute interpretations like you mention above. Individuals and militia alike should have the liberty to bear arms.

What part of liberty don’t you understand?

  • 18 Kenneth McClamrock // Jun 28, 2008 at 9:34 am

    Brad

From the sound of it, Justin has a clear understanding of liberty. From the history of the past 100 years, it has been the left-leaning liberals who have not understood the liberty (freedom) of fullfilling our Constitutional rights.

    Steve

My “W.” comment was in reference to Thierry Wernaers “Do you think George W. Bush was an awesome president?” question. My answer was that while I do not agree with everything he has done (although I voted for him both times and support him in the evershowing “Bush is an idiot” or “Bush hates black people” debates), I am happy he was in office these past 8 years and not Al Gore and/or John Kerry. I do not think their appointees would have given us the 5-4 edge.

  • 19 Justin Thibault // Jun 29, 2008 at 2:33 am

Brad - I searched; but I couldn’t find a definition of a logical fallacy that fit the crude argument that you made: “Liberal=Liberty”

The “liberals” on the Supreme Court were the ones fighting the individual right to bear arms and to counter DC’s handgun ban. The “liberal” DC city councils and the “liberal” member of the Supreme Court.

Obama’s court appointments would be quick to take many “liberties” away - especially those involving individual gun ownership.
