IE Problems with The Cheap Seats

August 3rd, 2008 by Justin Thibault · 2 Comments

From what I understand, people using Internet Explorer were having a problem visiting this site from Friday through Saturday. If you’re an Internet Explorer user - e-mail me and let me know if the site is coming up fine or if you’re still having problems (note: I’d appreciate those reading via RSS or e-mail to send me a message; because if you’re still having problems it’s likely you can’t read this message)

The problem was related to an issue to the user statistics software this site uses and was widespread across the Internet. That being said, IE has - in my opinion - been overly finicky and I’ve switched to using Firefox almost exclusively. I’ve been very happy with the results. You can download it here - it’ll take 5 minutes; but you’ll be up and running and - yes - it will transfer all of your bookmarks.

I only use IE for specific work applications and have found that poorly coded websites (like City of Concord)  sometimes come up better in IE. However, Firefox is much better for everything else: faster load times, doesn’t lock up, and has a built-in spell checker.

It appears you have fixed the problem for me. Thanks. Waiting for an update on all the BOE candidates.

I would also suggest Safari (available with iTunes). Like Firefox, it’s much faster that IE. Unlike Firefox, it does not use the resources that Firefox does. You can also transfer your bookmarks from IE to Safari.

    Check it out…
