Managing The Pillory

Given that, in about a month, I’ve had to deal with two nutty commenters - I should be clear about a few things.
This blog is open to anybody who wants to publish opinions, observations, etc. about life in Cabarrus County and does so within the guidelines.  I spent the first couple of years working hard [...]

For My Next Trick, I’ll Need A Volunteer: School Board

July 18th, 2008 · 9 Comments

OK, here it is - the first school board poll of the 2008 election year.  Pick your favorite.
Note: Because filing isn’t closed yet (that’s August 1) - I’m leaving the poll open to adding names that YOU want to see.  The first option added exhibits the extent of higher thought that exists on the Left.

Welcome Back, Caleb

July 17th, 2008 · 18 Comments

I’ve missed Caleb around here; but he’s come back something fierce.  While I’ve always thought that coming back with ad hominem attacks with the same is a bad idea - I’ll make an exception for this gem:
I’m actually going out on a thursday night, so you won’t hear from me again till roughly 2am. You [...]

Jesse Helms drew his last breath Friday, July 4, 2008.  Participate in the poll or leave a comment here.

The Death of Jesse Helms…

…was the end of the life of a great conservative

Welcome to the Pillory, massexodus

July 4th, 2008 · 9 Comments

Over the past three years, I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time making this blog a place where ideas and events can be discussed.  When people post here - they can expect to get challenged…that comes with the territory.  I also have no problem with anyone of any poltical stripe posting information or opinions no [...]

Second Helping

July 1st, 2008 · 2 Comments

I get a number of links from y’all and I run across in my trolling about the Internet that I’ve been trying to find a way to include them without dominating the discussion.  So, I’ve broken down the links into several categories and will be sharing them throughout the week every week depending on the [...]

Open Thread: Your Morning Cup O’ Crazy

June 25th, 2008 · 25 Comments

I’ve moved those crazy Maria Ray comments from the Hayes Ad thread to here.
This proves I’m rather permissive about what I let go on here; but I’d like to hear from everyone else - should behavior like this be permitted?

For My Next Trick, I’ll Need A Volunteer: Taxes

June 19th, 2008 · 3 Comments

This past Monday, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners voted to not adjust the tax rate to coincide with the recent revaluation.
Coy Privette said we Republicans needed to “repent” as he voted against it.
I’ll just leave it to y’all to chew on that one.
So, the question is - could they have cut taxes?

Oops

June 13th, 2008 · No Comments

So for the longest time, I thought I was sending local officials e-mails.
Funny thing - the bi-weekly e-mail happened once…maybe.  I didn’t know it; but my mass e-mail to 80 or so officials and candidates run up against a 50 e-mail/hour limit.  I never got an error.
What’s funny is that I got increasingly indignant about [...]

Well, that’s it: The Junior Senator from the Chicago Daley Machine is up against War Hero and Reformer John McCain.
The question is, of those who didn’t make it, who do you miss the most?
