Deconstructing Coletti (Part 3 of 3): Fashionably Late
December 20th, 2007 · 11 Comments
In the attached video, the Bishop shows up - he’s always too late. After a couple of years of reading stuff from the John Locke Foundation (JLF), I’ve noticed that they normally offer their criticisms after a decision is made - but are absent during the process.
While it’s not [...]

Deconstructing Coletti (Part 2 of 3): What If the NCRC Fails?
December 18th, 2007 · 5 Comments
During the series of NCRC doubts, I spent some time on why Kannapolis is going with a TIF. Later, I outlined why going with COPS instead of TIFs were a bad idea in this instance.
In his Spotlight report, Colletti leads with fear-mongering:
Just as lenders and borrowers underestimated some of the risks from subprime mortgages, there [...]

Deconstructing Coletti (Part 1 of 3): A Tale Of Two Projects
December 11th, 2007 · 5 Comments
In a recent Spotlight report, resident John Locke Foundation financial expert Joseph Coletti made the argument against the North Carolina Research Campus (NCRC) Tax Increment Financing (TIF) bonds passed recently. The report deals with the two projects that have received TIF financing - the NCRC and the Randy Parton Theater.
The report is interesting in that [...]

Now, ask yourself this question: Could the old majority - who took 5 years to decide to build a jail that was needed immedately; who [...]

Independent Tribune: David Murdock is a Drunk Illegal Immigrant
September 21st, 2007 · 2 Comments
Of course, the fella in the picture is David Murdock - the man behind building the $1.5 Billion NCRC Research Campus in Kannapolis.
I think it’s awful when people in the press stereotype billionaires as drunken, illegal neredowells. David Murdock is just trying to make a living like the rest of us.
* Note: David Murdock [...]

There are many people who are visiting this site for the first time after reading my response in the Kannapolis Citizen to Commissioner Privette’s mendacious Op-Ed on his opposition to Tax-Increment-Financing (TIF) for the North Carolina Research Campus (NCRC).
I thought I might point out some places of interest on this site.

June 3rd, 2007 · 2 Comments
Update (August 23, 2007): The “Wordpress Blogger’s Blog” (Lorelle on Wordpress) gave a challenge this week to give the story as to where a blog came from it’s original start. I guess I was 2 1/2 months early.
This past week, this blog turned two. That makes me a seasoned veteran in the world of [...]
